TAQA Arabia, the leading integrated energy services company in Egypt, has officially entered the Jordanian market by initiating a natural gas supply project for Al-Rawdah Industrial City in the Ma’an Development Area. The project marks the Group’s first step toward expanding its operations in the Kingdom and leveraging its expertise in developing and operating gas and energy infrastructure. The announcement was made in the presence of H.E. Dr. Saleh Al-Kharabsheh, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan; Mrs. Pakinam Kafafi, CEO of TAQA Arabia S.A.E.; and a number of representatives from the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development.
The project involves constructing a 14-kilometer natural gas pipeline, with TAQA Arabia leading its implementation under a Memorandum of Understanding between the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development and the Jordanian government, represented by the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation, to finance several development projects across the Kingdom. The pipeline will strengthen the energy infrastructure serving the industrial city while providing manufacturers with a more efficient and competitive energy source, enabling them to expand their operations and helping attract new investment.
For her part, Mrs. Pakinam Kafafi, CEO of TAQA Arabia, said: “Our entry into the Jordanian market marks another strategic step in TAQA Arabia’s regional expansion, driven by our belief in Egypt’s pivotal role as a regional hub connecting the Middle East and African markets. This project represents an important milestone in establishing our presence in the Kingdom and aligns with our vision to expand the reach of our services, meet evolving energy needs, and provide reliable solutions. We also look forward to leveraging our expertise in infrastructure development to actively contribute to the industrial sector and support sustainable development and long-term growth in the Kingdom.”
Eng. Tarek El-Hawary, Managing Director of TAQA Gas, a subsidiary of TAQA Arabia, added: “We are proud to begin the implementation phase of this strategic project in Al-Rawdah Industrial City, reflecting our proven track record in the development and expansion of natural gas infrastructure. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety throughout the construction of the 14-kilometer pipeline, ensuring a reliable supply of clean, safe, and efficient energy to manufacturers in the Ma’an Development Area. This will make a direct contribution to supporting the Jordanian economy and meeting the evolving needs of the industrial sector.”
The Board of Directors of TAQA Arabia, chaired by Eng. Khaled Abu Bakr, approved earlier this month the establishment of a branch in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to support the Group’s operations in the local market. The move is part of TAQA Arabia’s broader regional and African expansion strategy; building on the capabilities and experience it has previously developed in Egypt and bringing its integrated energy solutions to markets with growing demand for private infrastructure. The Group currently operates in several markets, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Tanzania, Mozambique, and Pakistan, where it provides services across the gas, energy, and infrastructure sectors.
